The Mexican Nation: Historical Continuity and Modern Change
Published in Paperback by Prentice Hall College Div (09 October, 2001)
Author: Douglas W. Richmond
Average review score:

Pretty good for a gringo!
Douglas W. Richmond is well versed in Mexican as well as Latin American history, despite being a gringo, he is a "righteous gringo!" After reading his splendid book, mailed it to a student in Argentina so it can be enjoyed down there too! Unfortunately such books are not common in Central and South America, only in Cuba and formerly in liberated Nicaragua under Daniel Ortega, could you find such well informed literature which exposes U.S. and foreign corporations who suck the life blood out of Latin Americans, as Richmond points out. He shows that on September 11, 1973, the C.I.A. under then U.S. President Richard M. Nixon and Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissigner had democratically elected Chilean Marxist president Salvador Allende murdered, maybe September 11, 2001 has a connection? Douglas pointed it out, yet the Bush regime remains silent along with the IMF, CIA, and FBI, why is that? Those pilots were d4edicated Marxists, ever wonder why that was not mentioned in the stories? Maybe like the late Malcom X stated: "The Chickens Come Home to Roost," said after John F. Kennedy "bought the farm," read his book, you cannot go wrong!

Microwave Circulator Design (Atrech House Microwave Library)
Published in Hardcover by Artech House (July, 1989)
Author: Douglas K. Linkhart
Average review score:

As a former co-worker with the author....
After working with the author at a microwave manufacturing facility in Tampa, Fla. I can assure the reader that they will not be disappointed by Doug's book. He is quite competent concerning the design of circulators and isolators and has a good understanding of stripline theory. He also hold's a B.S. in Computer Science (along with several other degree's and certifications) and at one time was developing software to model ferrite devices. I have read much of his book and at the price listed here I believe it would be a bargain. He makes this complex subject easy to comprehend.

Mitochondrial DNA in Human Pathology
Published in Hardcover by Raven Press (June, 1993)
Authors: Salvatore, M.D. Dimauro and Douglas C., Ph.D. Wallace
Average review score:

comprehensive text on clinical and molecular genetic aspects
This is an excellent text, for both post-graduate students and teachers (both science and clinical), of mitochondrial disorders. It covers the entire range of mtDNA disorders, as well as equip the novice in the field with all the necessary information to embark on one of the greatest challenges in molecular genetics - to characterise mtDNA disorders on the nucleotide level. An absolute MUST HAVE. Besides, any text that Wallace was involved in, is worth reading!

Mixed Effects Models in S and S-Plus

Authors: Jose C. Pinheiro and Douglas M. Bates
Average review score:

well written account of mixed models with SPlus software
Mixed effects linear models are very useful particularly in medical research (e.g. device or drug trials). Pinheiro and Bates provide comprehensive cover of both linear and nonlinear mixed effects models with many applications. Implementation is illustrated using the S programming language and the software package SPlus.

Bates is an expert on nonlinear regression and hence the emphasis on the nonlinear models as well as the linear ones.

A Modern Guide to Economic Thought: An Introduction to Comparative Schools of Thought in Economics
Published in Hardcover by Edward Elgar Pub (November, 1991)
Authors: Douglas Mair and Anne G. Miller
Average review score:

A great book
The book is an introduction to and overview of various schools of economic thought, with chapters written by representative experts in each area. There were chapters on philosophy and methodology of economics, the austrian school, the neoclassical school, the macroeconomics of the chicago school, the orthodox keynsian school, the institutionalist (evolutionary) school, and Marxian and radical economics.

A great overview for the beginner to intermediate or for anyone wondering if there is anything other than the orthodox economic line.

Modern Madness: The Hidden Link Between Work and Emotional Conflict
Published in Paperback by Touchstone Books (June, 1989)
Author: Douglas Labier
Average review score:

Implications of Adapting to Maladaptive Work Environments
This book was a recommended text in my Organizational Behavior class. I'll need a new copy because I have underlined and highlighted so much of the text! Dr. LaBier has deftly identified theoretical and practical "gaps" in the fields of clinical psychology, organizational psychology, organizational development and management consulting. The Big Question ... What type of organizational context/environment are individuals being encouraged to adapt to? The personal costs of so-called healthy adjustment to one's work environment often include suffering from symptoms of value conflicts, negative coping and overadapting? These symptoms are exacerbated if you are a healthy well-adjusted individual. They are significantly diminished if you are an individual whose daily interactions are already rife with maladaptive behaviors! Have you discovered that many managers and leaders seem to make others sick? Then you've been exposed to the individual that Dr. LaBier describes in great detail. The workplace winner could be a very disturbed individual whose mental aberrations are valued as strengths in our workplaces. Unchecked, these individuals spread malaise, low morale, mistrust and other damaging workplace dynamics.

One of the key paradoxes illuminated in this book... what are the implications for individuals and society when the maladaptive individual can adjust and flourish in a corporate (disturbed) environment and the healthy, adjusted person is depleted mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually by the same (disturbed) environment? What are the responsibilities of organizational experts whose primary task is to develop or "fix" individuals or teams so they may successfully "adjust" to their disturbed work environments? There are positive and negative repercussions to the pursuit of career success, Dr. LaBier encourages his readers to question the assumption that adaptiveness equates to healthy functioning.

Mortal Kombat 3: Players Guide (Gaming Mastery Ser.)
Published in Paperback by Sandwich Islands Pub (March, 1996)
Authors: J. Douglas Arnold and Zach Meston
Average review score:

All in all this is a great strategy guide for any mk fan
first off i liked all of the graphics and pictures in this book. I hate guides that only tell you what to do and leave out a picture (it can make a game more confusing than before). i liked all the fatalities and animalities that they show. And it one of the only sega genesis player guides still on the market. A good buy for anyone i highly recomend it!

Moves
Published in Paperback by Royal Fireworks Press (June, 2003)
Author: Douglas C. Horn
Average review score:

Outstanding!
I thought this was a book about putting the moves on babes, you know... But, much to my pleasant surprise, it was a book about friendship, comaraderie, and of course, martial arts.

The author shows excellent promise, and I look forward to reading more of his work.
